HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY FOR MEN
ABOUT MALE MENOPAUSE AND TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY
Most people are familiar with the term menopause, but are often caught off-guard when they hear about male menopause. Male menopause is often referred to as andropause and is a real medical condition. Andropause is the decline of testosterone in aging males. It is normal, natural, and something that all older men experience.
After age 30, the testosterone levels in men fall between 1% and 2% each year. By age 70, a man only has a tenth of the testosterone compared to the amount at age 25. Hormone therapy can assist in boosting testosterone levels and relieving the symptoms of this deficiency to restore strength and energy.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF MALE MENOPAUSE
Many men dealing with andropause have both physical and mental symptoms. The mental effects of andropause can be just as distressing as the physical symptoms. These mental effects may result in losing mental clarity which affects every area of your life, from your relationships to your career, or to other leisure activities.
There are many health symptoms that andropause causes such as:
- Weight gain
- Muscle loss
- Decreased sex drive
- Erectile dysfunction
- Hair loss
- Memory loss
- Loss of mental focus
- Sluggish circulation
- Sleep disturbances
These symptoms are due to low testosterone levels and are not only just a part of aging. All men have a decline in testosterone as they get older, but some men encounter a much greater loss than others. The severe decrease in testosterone is known as “Low-T”.
